I Thought I Had an Uncle Named Jake for Years...

When I was a little girl, I told people I had two uncles, Uncle Harold and Uncle Jake. It didn't occur to me that having one of my uncles be a dog was strange. Jake was a wonderful dog - smart, great with kids and well mannered.

The grandchildren would descend on his normally quiet home and Jake would warmly welcome us, playing silly games, allowing us to dress him up and eating way too many treats.

About 20 years later, my cousin, with fond memories of Uncle Jake, bought an Airedale and named him Jake. His dog is a bit anxious and hyper, but is still great with kids and loves his family.
