I began grooming in a very rural area and had three separate Airedales which I groomed regularly. It took me a long time to convince the owners their dogs needed regular grooming. This made it difficult to do much at first other than shave them down due to severe mats, and general neglect. The owners stated that they just liked letting their dogs be dogs. This meant that when they did come in they were often very unruly. After several visits I had them leash trained, they were much easier to bathe and knew simple commands. It was because of these dogs that I became interested in reinforcement training, and reconditioning.
