My First Dog: Our Afgan named Cheyanne

This dog was around when I was born. My parents got her about a year before they had me and I grew up with her. She was protective of me and loved to be around me. Sometimes she thought I was hers and she would stay close at all times. Over the years she was always there and always very friendly and socialized. She loved being brushed and groomed. Even though she was a very long haired dog she rarely needed to be brushed. Her coat seemed to stay tangle free and we shaved her in the summers to keep her cool.
She was very well behaved on the leash and she was impressively intelligent. Training and tricks where easy for her to pick up. She could dance, flip treats from her nose and catch them, shake, sit, lay, play dead, speak and sing.
We had other dogs during her life as well and she got along wonderfully with the other two dogs. She ended up being the Alpha in the group of the other two males that we had.
She passed from Cancer when she was around 13 years old. She lived a good long live and everyone who had ever met her missed her.
