Frengle - French Bulldog/Beagle Mix

Our Frengle has the best possible temperament.  She is friendly around everyone.  A little excited when she first meets people, then chills out in a few minutes.  She is a great lap dog, will fall asleep on you in about 30 seconds.  Loves to cuddle and loves to play fetch.  She barks very little, just when she plays or someone is at the door.  She is the joy of our lives.

Hey I was just wondering how much a frengle costs on average and where did you find the puppy?   Thanks!

We got Lilah at Petland and paid about 1800 dollars.  I found out later that many of their puppies come from puppy mills, so I wouldn't get another dog from them.  I have checked around and have been trying to find another frengle and haven't been able to find one.  We love our baby so much and would love to have another one just like her.  So if you find another one please let me know.

Hi, thanks for asking.  We got our frengle at Petland, but found out after that many of those stores get their puppies from puppy mills, so we wouldn't get another one from there.  We have looked for another one but haven't been able to find a breeder.  If you find one, please let me know, thanks Julie

Hi Joanlee,

Although I'm not familiar with any frengle breeders I just wanted to pass on some advice on seeking out a reputable breeder. As JulieRN learned a pet store puppy is not the way to go. They almost always come from puppy mills. Also the $1800 they charged her sounds way to high to me. These are mixes of two breeds, not registered, and not standardized (so temperment, personality, looks etc will vary greatly.) The price of the dog should reflect that. Less than $500 would be a more resonable range, although others may have a better price estimate, probably much less than $500.

You can probably start with a simple google search looking for a frengle breeder. The humane society has a good booklet on what to look for in a good breeder. Here's a link http://www.hsus.org/web-files/PDF/Good_breeder.pdf

Essentially you want a breeder to be more concerned about the dog than the money. Something high on my list is the veterinary care, ask for their veterinarian and for the veterinary records of the parents and the pup. If they have skipped the vet care then they are simply trying to make money. Lack of medical care for the parents and pup is not a good start for the health of your puppy.

Good luck in your search. Keep us up to date, I'm sure others have the same questions and can learn from your experience.
