I adopted Rags from my Grandmother after she unfortunately passed away in 2012. Since we had regularly visited and seen her, she adjusted fairly quickly into her new home, although we could tell she missed my Grandmother. It was relatively soon after my previous cat had passed away, so she was a surprising but welcome addition to the family.
We were afraid that she might have had issues with our dogs, but since they were both used to having a cat around the house, and seemed to miss the company of having one too, they got along splendidly together. These cats do shed quite a lot of fur, which can be a pain to clean up all the time. They're also extremely playful though, so be prepared to have a lot of fun with them!
Rags unfortunately passed away a couple of years after getting her. We're not sure exactly what her age was, but we know that she lived a good, long life, and we glad to have shared her last couple years together.
