The story of how we got these cats is a bit of a weird one! A black car backed into the driveway of our farm one day, opened the boot to let two little cats out, and drove away.
We decided to keep them, and slowly but surely convinced them that we were trustworthy, by leaving out food and water and eventually approaching them slowly. They were slow to trust, and remained easily scared for quite a long time. We were a little suspicious that there had been abuse in their past, particularly given that they were dumped!
There was a mother, Puss, with her kitten, Columbus. We had to assume everything we knew about them, but by appearance alone, we were quite sure they were at least part RagaMuffin.
The kitten was much more friendly than the mother at first, but eventually they were both very happy being picked up and played with, and would happily be stroked and played with for hours. However, they both remained quite independent, and were just as happy prowling around the farm on their own as being petted. We never had mice in the sheds after Puss came!
One downside of this cat is that when Columbus grew older he became quite an aggressive cat, and was often fighting with other cats he came across. He would even attack his mother now and then. However, it's important to note that we had chosen not to get him neutered, which could have been a big mistake with this particular cat. He eventually disappeared, and after searching for hime, we assumed he had probably been killed or injured by another cat. Quite honestly, we were almost relieved!
We kept Puss for quite a long time, and she eventually passed away happily. I would have this cat again!
