We found Wendy one lovely sunny day on our local beach – a gorgeous four-legged fluff of grey fur desperate for cuddles and attention. My husband and I fell in love with her on the spot. After asking around for the owners we realized she had been left there so we took her home since leaving her there alone wasn’t an option.
One of the best decisions we ever made!
For three years she had been an amazing companion for us and for our older cat Tazzy and our Chihuahua Nibbles. In fact, Wendy was like a dog – she would come when we snapped our fingers, she would talk, cuddle constantly, she loved being carried around and she never once scratched anyone or anything. Yes, it is a high-maintenance cat because of her long and thick fur but her lovely character made up for all the hair around the house. In my book that was the only negative side but one we put up with gladly. She wasn’t picky about the food, was in great health and she loved everybody – kids, dogs, cats!
Sadly, she was also incredibly curious and one day she slipped out of the house and was hit by a car. Three years have passed since we lost her and we still can’t talk about her without choking up.
Nebelungs are amazing creatures, especially if you get them young (Wendy was around 3 months old when we found her) and invest your time and love into them because they pay you back tenfold. Or at least Wendy did.
