Over the years I've been owned by multiple domestic shorthair cats! There is a dsh for every person! I personally prefer the black and white and tabby colors. But I always say the cat chooses YOU. Overall, the diversity of genetics in DSHs ensures overall health. They need routine medical care. As they age, doing routine blood work to keep an eye on their kidney and thyroid health is important. Kidney failure and hyperthyroidism are common in older cats, but can be managed, if detected early. They require little grooming, other than an occasional brushing, ear cleaning, and routine dental care.
