Adopting shelter cats is always a little anxiety inducing, and this time around when I decided it was time for a new feline companion was no different. Chops, or the Incredible Mr. Chops as he prefers, is an eight-year-old Ragdoll mix with a heartbreaking background. We met at the shelter and although I loved his beautiful appearance and seemingly outgoing nature, I worried that his past might make him a hide-under-the-couch kitty. I was mistaken. Ragdolls I've known in the past have always made their presence known, and Chops is no different. He loves attention and cuddling, playing with his mouse toys, and the occasional conversation. He takes time to warm up to strangers, but once he does it can be hard to get time to yourself. Unlike many purebred Ragdolls and despite his age, he has few physical issues. He does require a fairly calm environment and prefers all the attention on him - not a good choice for a multi-pet home. He also requires regular grooming, as his luxurious Ragdoll coat is a lot to take care of by himself. All in all, he combines the best of Ragdoll personality and looks with the health of a mixed breed cat.
