Cat Ownership: Pros and Cons

I got Orion and Kyrii at roughly 11 weeks old. The two were brother and sister, the last left of a litter a woman had listed on Craigslist. Prior to the two of them I had owned three cats, but only one as a kitten and that was when I was eight years old. I had no idea I was in for curious kittens climbing into everything and going to the bathroom anywhere but the litter box it seemed. Within a couple weeks of a spray bottle they learned that it was very bad to "go" anywhere but the box, I rewarded them for using the box by playing with them for a little bit.

Six months later we got them fixed (had to be done regardless, but we did it as soon as Orion started to spray) and introduced them to the life of an indoor/out door cat because they both would never leave the door alone (no matter how much we sprayed them!). This worked well, but after a year, our little girl Kyrii disappeared. A year later (almost to the day) Orion went missing. Four months later he showed up at our back porch as though he had left yesterday and has been souly an inside cat since.

They both were territorial when outside cats, not allowing other neighborhood cats in our yard at all. With us and about any other person they met they were instant love-bugs, Orion still is. I wish very much we still had our Kyrii, but having Orion back is a blessing in itself. Within a week of being back home, the spray bottle has kept him entirely from meowing at the door. So over all its been a great experience owning these two.
