Handsome Maine Coon

This handsome fella has been in my life since October of 2009. We picked him up from a local animal shelter when he was approximately six months old, so we have watched him grow and have had a front row seat to his funny personality.

When he was younger, he loved to play. Specifically, he loved to chases toys on strings or laser pointers. Now that he is an older (more sophisticated) kitty, he would much prefer to cuddle up on a lap, get some pets behind the ear, and take a nap on you. He will still have bursts of energy and need some play time, but it is not uncommon to feel two little paws on my lap and a face that asks "May I join you as you sit, human?"

He is also very intelligent. He has figured out how to work some door knobs, so if you were hoping to get some peace and quiet, he may still find you.

He is also great with my one-year-old son, and puts up with a lot of my son's "grabbiness." We have nicknamed Fritz our 'Gentle Giant'. (He is about 16 pounds.)

Something to watch out for: I don't know if this is Fritz specifically or a Maine Coon trait, but he has a very sensitive stomach. We tried some cheaper brands of food like Friskies, but he would always throw it back up. We eventually had to settle on a limited ingredient, sensitive stomach cat food such as Royal Canin.

I would get Fritz or his breed again in a heartbeat. He is very affectionate, gentle with kids and guests, and almost dog-like in his loyalty.

Thank you for being such a good friend Fritz.
