Maine Madness

My Maine Coon was my first cat. I chose the breed because I was told that they are affectionate and devoted to their people. At the time when I bought her, I lived in a large apartment and my intention was that she would live as an indoor cat. This was definitely not a good idea as her behaviour when kept inside was quite erratic; she is extremely aloof and aggressive with other family members (human, feline and canine).
As soon as we moved from our apartment to a house in a village, the Maine Coon started to disappear and now only returns to the house sporadically for food and to catch up on sleep. The long coat requires quite a lot of maintenance and this is not easy to keep up with on a cat that likes to be outdoors so much. Of course, I love my cat despite her somewhat testing personality but I don't think that this was the best breed choice for me and wouldn't have another Maine Coon.
