I got Rowan about six months ago from a shelter.

After researching, I found out the Rowan is a Japanese Bobtail. He has a very active body with a short stubby tail. Ancient Japanese Folklore states that these cats were highly regarded because they kept pests at bay for royalty.

I love Rowan. He's got a gorgeous coat which is extremely silky with rust color spots. I got him so my other cat wouldn't be alone while I worked.

The only downside I have is that he is VERY active. He is a jumper. I have seen him jump my height easily. So if you have areas such as a kitchen counter or delicate things up high, he's probably not the cat for you. I constantly have to amuse him. He has a little house and a tube he runs through to get exercise.

He is also very curious. He likes to check everything out. So a good rule of thumb is to do some play exercise to wear out a bobtail because they will get into EVERYTHING. They don't mean to..it is just their nature!

These cats would make excellent family pets with children who can occupy them. They would probably not be appropriate for older people looking for a lap cat.

Regardless, I love my little professor. He will lay down next to me at night and look at me with a loving face which reminds me of a pokemon. Hence the name Professor Rowan.

These are beautiful cats who would do great in a multi person home!
