In many Exotic Shorthair breeding programs up to 50% of all kittens produced can be bron with Longhair and they look identical to the Persian.  See the breed discription of the Exotic Shorthair and the Persian for more information. Breeders can not determine for sure if the kittens will be long or short hair until approx. 3 weeks of age.
The Exotic Longhair is a reconized breed and can be shown in all Major cat Associations as of 2009.
The beauty of the Exotic Longhair over the Persian as most breeders place all their longhairs in Pet or Show Alter homes for Pet prices regardless of Quality.  So potentially you can get a Show Quality Exotic Longhair for what you can get a Pet Quality Persian for.  They come in all the colors that the Persian, Himalayan and Exotic SH come in as well.
One of our Tortoiseshell, Exotic Longhair kittens pictured has been shown 3 times by her owner and acheived 3 Best of the Best kitten wins and is currently the Best kitten in our Region of any breed!  Her mom is pictured in the breed discription.
