Sweet little Smudge

This little girl has been my one of my favorites. I got her as a companion for another cat because I was feeling guilty that I was spending so much time away from home when I started grad school. I had never even heard of an American Wirehair, much less seen one, but she has been a joy. Smudge is mostly a creamy white color with tortoise-shell markings on her face...hence the name. She is extremely athletic and very playful but she likes to cuddle, at night especially. She also has an extremely loud and deep purr for her size. She isn't terribly vocal, but she gets her point across when needed. The only negative so far has been a problem with chewing. She really likes phone charging cords (she's chewed through 5 so far). Smudge was already litter trained when I got her but there didn't seem to be any problems with that. She loves, loves, loves to climb (she has a cat tree) and basking in the sun is probably her favorite pastime other than chasing her tail like a maniac. She gets along quite well with strangers, other cats and even a friend's dog that she was introduced to. She is a definite apartment cat, having never been outside, but really doesn't seem to mind as long as she has a window to look out. Smudge hasn't needed any kind of special diet or vet care so far, she is very healthy. She is starting to shed some with the season change, but it isn't nearly as bad as my other cats because her hair is so much coarser.
