Bessie was the first cat I owned as an adult. I adopted her from the Humane Society when she was about 3 months old. She was a very loving and friendly cat. She was very low maintenance and she was in perfect health until she was 14 years old and started going through kidney failure. Unfortunately, I had to put her to sleep so she wouldn't suffer.

When I adopted 2 more cats, she was definitely the alpha of the cats. She was friendly towards them, but she was the queen. Then we got a dog. I wouldn't say she was afraid of the dog, but they were not best friends.

Overall, she was the perfect cat. She loved to cuddle in bed, loved to be brushed, and she was quiet, yet playful.
