Definitely my favorite of the breeds that I've encountered. Very playful and caring cat. I've had 3 American shorthairs and this breed of cat is perfect for those who at times have busy schedules. They are low maintenance and I haven't experienced any health issues in my young adult cats. There is not much negative to say about this breed except they can often be hyper and destructive, chewing on cords and etc,. However, a very adaptable cat and from my experience, they are also friendly with dogs. In addition, because they're hyper, I recommend cats of similar ages be around each other. Senior American shorthairs cannot handle the stress of younger cats.
