weepers.... an american shorthair cat we love

We got weepers three years ago exactly. She is very active and the worst part about her was waiting for her to be declawed, she got into everything! and when you wore shorts... she would accidentally claw you. We got her from a friend on a rural farm. She can be moody and protective, and she has a trademark tortoise cat attitude. But in her tender moments like late at night, she will wrap her paws around your fingers, purr, and love to be petted. Sometimes she hides around strangers and we have only moved her once, which was traumatic for her, but overall she has been a treasure of a pet.
Playing with the laser light toy is her favorite activity, and she naps in the sunlight like any other cat. Some owners do not like the tortoise because they seem aloof and conceited, and not as mellow, sometimes they run around like they are on speed. But at about age two and a half she really started to mature and only have about 40 minutes a day of hard activity and the rest lounging around. In most ways she has turned out to be ideal for us, a married couple with no children. We had to leave her alone once for five days with a guest coming in to feed her when we went on vacation. She was a bit razzled when we came back, and obviously doesn't want us to leave again soon!!! Her personality truly seems one of a kind sometimes and the moments when she is attached and loving to us are as precious as any cat owner. her other favorite toy is what else..... but small catnip mice.
