I don't consider myself a cat lover. I do not despise them; they just aren't my pet of choice. Though I must say, Rocky, our black and white American Shorthair, is the kind of cat I don't mind having around.
Rocky is a relatively easy cat. Sure, he likes his alone time, lying around on the top of the couch in the sun. He's standoffish, as I would expect. However, he is gentle and kind to those who are gentle and kind with him. He becomes nervous in a crowd or with too much prodding. He will become aggressive if he feels overly threatened. But, he will easily return affection when he feels safe. That being said, I would recommend this cat to individuals and families who can be gentle with an animal.
Rocky is an excellent hunter, catching mice from our yard and surrounding field regularly.
He was trained to use a little box outside in the garage. He isn't very vocal, unless he needs to be let out or needs food.
Rocky's shorter hair keeps maintenance low. Neither ear nor dental issues have ever been a problem.
