Domestic / American Shorthair - Benny!

Benny is my first domestic short hair cat. I adopted him in a rush to appease my children who were aching over the loss of a German Shepherd (which I was not prepared to replace).
This cat is a great hunter, kind and a bit aloof. He also has earned a title in the house as not being the "brightest bulb" in the box. He is indoor/outdoor and, as opposed to my Maine Coon who is 16 years old and only been to the vet for one outdoor injury, he has been taken for three pretty serious ones in two years.
Benny is not a "lap" cat when he is indoors and this is disappointing to me. However, to his credit stands very strong to our recent puppy addition and refuses to take anything off of him.
I love this domestic shorthair, but he is a bit odd compared to my other animals.
