We are a cat family, we have a dog too, but we have cats. Right now 3. I am holding strong that 3 is the cap, not because I don't love cats, I do, but because 3 is enough for our small house. Having had cat since I was little I know that each has its own personality. And, they do. They can be needy or standoffish. They love to sleep with you, especially in the winter. All of our cats are fixed, and I recommend doing so. Cats are low maintenance. You feed them, and give them love when they demand it and they are happy. Our cats love our kids, somehow our youngest has convinced the cats she is cool, as cats don't always tolerate kids and their grabby hands, but ours do. We love cats because of their attitude, and their personality. Dogs are devoted and loving and cats, they have spunk and cattitude. They love you , but they have their own way o showing it. If you are looking for a low maintenance loving ball of fur that will have no issue letting you know if they aren't happy with you than a cat is what you want and need. In my opinion you should adopt from a shelter as cats are filling shelters and have a harder time finding homes, but where-ever you get your cat you wont regret it.
