I've had the pleasure of owning my cat Babe for just over six years now. I got him as a very small kitten, requiring bottle feedings of kitten milk replacement. After visiting a grocery store, there was a woman with a box of kittens outside attempting to give them away. I went up, was going to take a brown tabby kitten, when I noticed this small tuxedo kitten continuously jumping out of the box at me. I eventually resolved to taking him, and haven't regretted that decision ever since originally making it.
Babe isn't the most active cat, something that I greatly appreciate. He much prefers to lounge around the house napping, occasionally being a bit active if the dog wants to play with him. He's very loving and very good with both adults and children. He's extremely clean, and is constantly grooming himself. He gets along extremely well with other animals, so long as they aren't attempting to immerse themselves too fully in his territory.
The only downsides to Babe are how territorial he is. If another cat enters the home and attempts to lay next to me, or sit on my lap, Babe will run them off and assume his position on me. Although he was neutered at a young age, he has a habit of spraying parts of the house when a new animal is first introduced.
Overall, I would have to say that he and this specific breed of cat are very good choices for families with either small or older children. They're very gentle, and allow quite a bit to be done to them before they will move into another room. I'd recommend to any individual or family searching for a friendly cat.
