American short haired cats are a very common breed and very inexpensive to own and take care of. I personally have owned quite a few and can say that these cats are such a joy to own, although definitely need lots of love. The experience I had with Kisa, having owned her since she was only 5 weeks, was very close, loving and playful relationship. She often follows me around, nuzzles me when lounge, plays with hair ties or feathers and cat toys or meows at me until I pick her up or pet her. Now there are always some disadvantages to having a pet. If you leave dirty clothes on the floor, they may very well use your clothes as a bathroom, but that is typically when they are younger. They will beg you for food at the table, I don't mind, but some may. I have also lost some hair ties and socks to her playful antics, but all in all they require virtually no grooming or bathing, are very healthy and very loving!
