My adventures with a calico American Shorthair

Tee was a female calico domestic Shorthair that we got from a friend who had an extra from a recent litter. We had 2 dogs at the time, so Tee had to learn quickly to get along with dogs, which she did happily. The dogs treated her like a member of the family from the start, which was a relief. This breed of cat was a very good family pet, she was gentle with children, playful, and affectionate.
She was kept in the house all her life, and behaved well for the most part, as long as there were scratching posts and climbing structures for her to play. Only once did she damage anything in the house, a speaker cover on a floor stereo speaker that she used as a scratching post before we learned to provide her one of her own! She was always willing to lay on somebody while watching television, and was the most affectionate cat I've known. Definitely would recommend this breed as a house pet, even if there are dogs around.
