Like most cats, Joey loved to sleep and lay in the sun more than anything else. As an adopted rescue cat, he wasn't a kitten anymore but still had moments of playfulness and energy (see my photo of him playing in the railing!). I had this cat while living on a farm and he was great - comfortable with our other cat, with our dog and with the other wildlife in the area.
He was very personable - not loud but definitely liked to be around people. That being said, he was his own person (well, cat). He would stick around for as long as we wanted and would leave and go do his own thing - even if I begged him to stay and cuddle a bit longer - of his own choosing. He was great with kids, men and women alike and generally a great, easy to love cat.
He was, however, hairy! Though he could keep himself clean, he wasn't the one vacuuming every few days, despite being a so-called "short hair" cat. Get ready for seasonal fur issues but also for lots of love. He was an outdoor cat though mostly stayed indoors (and was a bit chubby for that reason).
I would recommend having a cat to just about anyone who isn't allergic and doesn't mind cleaning the litter. Not all short hair cats have the same personality so you want to make sure you feel a bond with the cat before taking him/her home! In my experience, however, most cats have a fun, unique personality and compliment virtually any lifestyle. I ended up giving him to a friend when I moved and he continues to be the same, sweet little guy.
