Love my American Shorthairs!

I have had my American Shorthairs now for just over three years and I couldn't be happier with them. They've become part of my family and daily life, and I wouldn't change anything! For anyone who may be considering adopting an American Shorthair cat, I would offer you the pros and cons of these pets, in my personal opinion and experience.

Pros:
Easy maintenance; Friendly with me and visitors; Playful with each other and with me when I get toys out; Seem intelligent and as though they learn quickly; Low maintenance (I can go away for a weekend and know they'll be okay); Low-key personalities; Varying personalities between cats; Companionship (they seem to crave some attention and cuddle time, which I like)

Cons:
Shedding, which at times can be quite a lot; Scratches either on hardwood flooring or furniture; Kneading on me and using their claws; They at times seem very curious about things which I wish they wouldn't be

As you can tell from my pro/con listing, I find that there are far more pros than cons with my American Shorthairs. If you are looking for a pet that is fairly low maintenance yet offers love and companionship, I'd definitely suggest that you consider adopting a cat!! I'm sure each breed has their own personalities and quirks, but I've been extremely happy with my American Shorthairs.
