Dude The Cat

Yes, his name is Dude The Cat. When we first got Dude TC as a kitten he tried to nurse from George - my pit/boxer mix. This caused us to say, "Dude, what are you doing?" Hence the name. Dude is a plain orange domestic short hair. He is exceedingly lazy and demanding. He wants to eat when he wants to eat, and if that means he has to nibble on a toe or two to wake you up - that's what he'll do. He gets along very well with both of our dogs and in fact is best friends with Beau, our mutt.

It's incredibly cute to watch them curl up and sleep, groom each other and even play. Beau is very protective of Dude, and doesn't like when we take Dude to the vet. This very calm dog will bark and whine as we put Dude in his carrier.

I know it sounds like Dude is a pain, but he's not. All cats are demanding, and Dude is no more demanding then any cat I've had. I love that Dude is independent, and only wants to be pet on his terms. It works quite well for us. I think dogs and cats can get along just fine, particularly if one of them is very young when bought into the home.

The bottom line is that Dude is a cat and cats just are.
