Monte- the grumpy old lady

I have had Monte since the summer before first going into high school- 17 years ago. I must say that she has led a very healthy and happy life. I actually left her with my parents when I got married and moved out. They loved her and my husband got a dog that Monte didn't care for. I've heard many people say that their cat gets along well with their dog, but it was not the case for me. I still consider her my cat though :-)

She always liked sneaking out when she was younger, and she was quite the hunter. She could climb a tree without front claws! Apparently, Monte thought she was a lion. Of course, as she has gotten older she has gotten slower as well and does not get out as much.

Monte is friendly for the most part. However, she does get in "her moods." With this in mind, all cats have different personalities. My sister just adopted a street cat and he is the sweetest thing ever. Monte isn't what I would call a playful cat for kids, but my sister's cat definitely is.

Overall, a huge pro for adopting a cat is they are much more independent than dogs. If you don't have a whole lot of time but like the company of a small furry being, a cat is a great option.
