Our kitty, Sweet Tea, is a regular shorthair mixed breed. She is a tortoiseshell color, and she was my pick of her litter, the only one of this color, and I fell in love with her. I got her from a good friend in Arizona. We obtained her for our family when she was old enough, at about 10 weeks or so. She has always been a great cat, friendly with dogs when we had them, good with most other cats around, and always nice with our children, very tolerant. She is vocal at times, and "talks" to me when I talk to her. She enjoys snuggling when it pleases her, but can also be aloof. Cats seem to all have their own distinct personalities, even of the same breed or litter.
At one time, we thought we had lost Sweet Tea forever. When we moved from Arizona to Oregon, she disappeared on the day we locked up our POD and left the state. I was extremely distraught, for she was to come with us. I thought I would never see her again. We spent 4 weeks in California with my family before getting the keys to our new house in Oregon, and the day before we drove up to Oregon, we got a call from PODS, telling us they heard a meow coming from our POD. Sweet Tea had gotten trapped inside in the commotion of us packing the car, and had been in there the whole time, it was a miracle she was alive! She is a true survivor, and we were so happy to have her back with us. She is happy and healthy to this day, and we love her very much. Cats are truly amazing animals.
