Mr. Lister showed up at my apartment as a stray when he was a kitten, and it didn't take him long to make himself at home, although at first he was very skittish. He is still skittish around strangers, but when it's just us at home, he rules the roost.

Mr. Lister was a fast learner and knew how to use the litter box as soon as we provided one for him. He rarely has accidents or purposely goes outside of his box, and on the rare occasion that he does, it's usually because he's mad (typical cat behavior.)

He is very vocal and lets you know the moment his food dish is running low. He likes to climb on the counter next to the kitchen sink, but he doesn't jump on it or climb on other countertops or tables. He spends most of his time sleeping, although he does like to play in the evening. He can be aloof but he can also be loving, often sitting on my lap while I watch TV (and sometimes sitting on my laptop keyboard when I'm trying to work!) He is very neat and grooms himself, and has minimal shedding. Usually brushing him with a cat brush helps to remove excess fur.

I have owned many shorthair cats over the years, and they are by far my favorite breed. I would be lost without my cat!
