Loner Cat

My cat Mabel (an American shorthair mix) is an incorrigible loner. She doesn’t like to be around the children, and hates the dog (HATES the dog). My advice for a new cat owner would be to get a cat as young as possible so that it hasn’t been exposed to dogs or kids long enough to scare it, or adopt an older cat that is used to dogs and children and likes them, if you have dogs and kids in your home. Even though Mabel was super young at her adoption, I still think she must have had a traumatizing experience. Even after working with her and spending a lot of time to help, she doesn’t want anything to do with most of the family.
