A few years ago, my aunt gave me a cat that she found in her yard. Because he was an American short hair, he shed but not a lot. He isn't the brightest cat, but he is amazingly mellow and lovable. Once he became comfortable with his surroundings, he began exploring and pounced on everything that moved, which was pretty adorable. He also loved sitting on laps and being petted for a while.

I recommend this type of cat for anyone who doesn't mind an animal who can be independent at times and affectionate during calmer days. Cats in general are easy to take care of, so if you're new to pet ownership, consider getting a cat. They’re relatively neat, so if you keep up with the litter box they won’t make any mess around your house (at least when it comes to bathroom business).

My cat used to tackle my plants for fun but after I moved them away from any large drafts that made the leaves move, my cat became a lot less tempted to play with th leaves. Apart from some playfulness on the cat’s behalf, I’ve had a great experience with him so far. He's a wonderful pet and hasn't hissed at anyone at all.
