Best Pet Ever!

My American Shorthair cat is just about the best pet I can think of. I took Ernie in on a whim when he was just a kitten. Coming from a dog family, I was hesitant to delve into the world of felines- but I’ve loved every second and have never looked back!

Ernie is the perfect combination of playful and calm. He’ll curl up and purr in my lap while I work but loves a good playtime session whenever his favorite toy is in sight. He is very intelligent and learns quickly- I was able to teach him 3 tricks in 1 day! Ernie gets along well with the Golden Doodle we are caring for and is patient around children under 5 years old.

Though I highly recommend purchasing an American Shorthair cat- it is not all fun and games.Ernie can be very particular about his litter box- if not kept spotless he will take his business elsewhere. Needless to say, this has lead to some unsavory surprises. If you happen to be squeamish; you’ll want to prepare for the plethora of dead mice which will be placed by your feet as “gifts”. Lastly, constantly having a lint roller on hand is a necessary evil when owning an American Shorthair.

Despite all that, Ernie has been the most rewarding pet I have ever owned and I look forward to purchasing another kitten soon!
