Kitty was by dearest feline friend for years. We grew up together and in a house full of pets, she was exclusively mine. Unfortunately for a child, a cat is not the most nurturing pet and does not RUN to greet you. BUT, a cat is a great pet for busy people. They don't need a ton of time- you can literally go out of town for 2 days and leave them with food and they're fine. I don't recommend leaving your sweet kitty for more than a day, but they are quite independent. My family cat was more or less well behaved, but she was sometimes quite playful- a little too much even, like she'd been storing it up- and on those days it wasn't safe to scurry through the house in bare feet (unless you wanted your toes attacked). Mostly she enjoyed cuddling, but only on her time frame. A great pet for someone who wants a snuggly buddy, but isn't going to need too much affection!
