A Good, Low Maintenance Cat

I am not much of a cat person, but this little kitten was found abandoned by my dad's coworker and she tugged at my dad's heartstrings so much he brought her home. She was really cute. She liked to climb on things (like my legs, ouch!). My parents had her declawed, so I didn't experience any scratching after that. She was a pretty playful cat, but was fine playing or lounging on her own. She liked being held, and I remember my mom walking around the house doing things with one hand while the cat rested over her shoulder, like a baby. My parents let her come and go as she pleased (outside). She was pretty easy to maintain, but eventually got cancer in her leg. She had surgery to have it removed and seemed to be recovering, then all of a sudden got very sick and died quickly. This is a good cat for someone who wants low maintenance and affection, but I'm not sure how common the cancer is with the breed or if it was just something that happened to her.
