I was in my sophomore year of high school at the time. It was the beginning of the school year. I came home and the first thing I saw in the entrance hallway was a tiny little black and white creature. She was perched up rigidly with her large yellow eyes fixated on me as I stood in the doorway. I squealed with excitement, not knowing why she was there or that we would eventually keep her. She ran as I approached, but I eventually coaxed her out from underneath the sofa. I was on bath duty that day and held her in a warm towel while she slept. She is 10 now. She was a friendly, affectionate cat, but she got grumpy with me, especially back then because I was a crazy kid.
