Two cats with defferent personality's

I have owned two different cats of this breed. They both had two very different personality's and body types. My first cat was extremely lovable and a normal size cat. She had no health issues till the cat passed away at 17. I rescued the next one from a shelter at four months old. Lovable at first and playful to, though over time this changed. He grew very fat and really didn't like being around people at first. This has changed a little over the years as we have put him on a diet and he seems to be getting nicer as he gets older. I still love my cat, but he can be a butt that tries to bite me as I am petting him.
