Our 14-year-old tabby Callie: She has her imperfections, but we love her because her positive attributes outweigh her faults. Let's begin with the negatives and end with the positives. As an older cat, she has a few cleanliness issues: for example, her pee stinks! It requires vigilance to keep her litter box clean; we do it daily. She also has problems with barfing up her dinner if we feed her too much; so we are sure to keep track of how much we've fed her. Finally, she can no longer reach some parts of her fur with her tongue, so we have to help brush and in fact we give her baths every month or two, but that is quite fun. When she is in the bucket of warm water she gets very relaxed, so that is also when we trim her nails.
The good parts of Callie outweigh the bad: She's very affectionate, and she sleeps with us every night. She likes to cuddle up in the warm part of our stomach, or if we're sleeping on the side, she'll cuddle against the back of our knees. She loves to sit on your lap when you're reading or watching TV, and petting her is relaxing for both. And she has her funny moments when she looks at you with her eyes wide open, expecting something so you just pause, look at her, and have a moment. We love her.
