Kit-Kat lived a long life--almost 19 years--as one of our beloved family pets. She was a stray and we took her in when she was six months old. She was very active, running, jumping, and playing, until the very end. It is always a very good sign of health when a cat is active, but we did have to train her not to scratch the furniture and such! We live in southern Louisiana--an area very prone to hurricanes--and Kit-Kat traveled with us on several hurricane evacuations, including Hurricane Katrina. We stayed in several places in the months following the storm until finding a new, permanent place to settle. Many cats, especially indoor ones, can become stressed and alarmed by sudden changes in environment, but Kit-Kat adapted to the changes like a boss. She was truly a remarkable pet.
