As cats are wont to do, my big striped cat often made me feel like I was doing something I shouldn't be. He mastered the look of disdain and often unleashed it on me when he wasn't fed at the right time or when a stray neighboring cat wandered onto our front porch. Never aggressive unless deliberately provoked, he would deign to let us pet him only as long as he felt was necessary. He deliberately picked favorites among the family and visitors, but rather than be outright mean to those he didn't like, he simply chose to ignore his non-favorites. Very easy to take care of in terms of health issues, grooming, and managed extremely well when left outside for long periods of time (he would bring home mice and baby rabbits as "gifts" for my mother"), but he was seemingly better adapted to an owner who didn't disturb him too much.
