Sheba raised me right

My Mom brought Sheba home when I was around 4 or so. I don't remember Sheba arriving - we always had cats - but I do remember Sheba's one and only litter, because I got to keep one of the kittens. Sweetheart died by misadventure when I was 11 or so; Sheba lived on for another nearly ten years. She was everything we expect from a cat - occasionally demanding, convinced of her own majesty, and an essential part of our lives. I remember when she brought a kangaroo rat home to give to Mom - she'd evidently decided Mom needed some practice with her hunting, because when that 'roo rat woke up, Sheba just sat and watched as Mom chased it around the house. What a racket! I'll always think first of Sheba when I think about getting a cat, and how much I missed her when I moved out. Sheba taught me that a house isn't a home without a cat in residence.
I don't have an actual picture of Sheba, but this one I found on WikiCommons looks so much like her that my heart nearly stopped.
