Tiffany was the first cat I ever owned and I will always love her dearly. She is very affectionate toward me and my ex husband. She acted like a stereotypical lap cat from the moment we brought her home from the SPCA. She cuddled, purred, and licked our faces incessantly.

However, she was never able to warm to guests. Anytime someone came to visit, Tiffany would cower in her hiding spot until they left. She would even hide from people who visited regularly!

A few years later, we adopted a black kitten named Loki. She absolutely hated his guts. To this day (four years later) she still hisses and growls at Loki every chance she gets. Loki takes it in stride, he even tries to play with her. But Tiffany still won't warm up to him. Similarly, she never stopped loving me or my ex husband. I only see Tiffany about once a month and she is just as affectionate as ever.

My tortoiseshell diva is the most stubborn creature I have ever known. Her first impressions are irrevocable.
