American Shorthair Review

The first cat I ever owned was an American Shorthair. Overall, it was a great introductory experience into cat ownership and I would recommend this breed for a first-time cat owner because it will give you a great indication of you are a cat person or not! At the point when I got Ron, I was only 13 years old. Unlike some other cats, this breed does like to have attention given to him, at some points; however, not too much is required. They will not bother you when you are busy, and if you are not in the mood to give them attention right away, they really will not persist. This is also one of the few cats I’ve seen in my life that has also been friendly to strangers. Whenever anyone comes over, he is never nervous and is definitely comfortable in rooms with strangers. Having said that, they are not comfortable around dogs at all. Being a dog owner as well, it takes a very long time for them to get adjusted to having a dog around, regardless of the size or aggressiveness of the dog. Hygiene wise, these cats are very clean and during their younger years, they do not shed much, but shedding will increase with age.
