Worst pet of my childhood

I had this cat growing up as a child and it was the meanest thing. If you got the least bit close to it, it would hiss or try to swat at you. I still have scars on my wrist from where it scratched me because it did not like to have it's stomach petted.
Incredibly, incredibly lazy cat. A mouse ran by it and all it did was stare at the mouse and then curl back up and go to sleep. It wasn't very playful at all, and most of the time did nothing but sleep and eat. Was incredibly mean to both my mother and I, yet seemed alright with my dad. I received most of the abuse from the animal however, as I was young and wanted a special kitty friend.

I assume however that it was due to the raising of the cat and not the breed, as other cats of this breed I have met have been incredibly sweet and nurturing, including a cat my family had as a child. But this cat was really awful due to it's terrible temperament.
