Elvis was a fantastic cat overall. He was very intelligent, at one point even learning to say "Mama" after hearing my little sister say it over and over at the same time every night. He hated it when we would move -- we moved a lot -- and he would "pack" his toys by gathering them up from around the house and leaving them in a pile near his boxes. He had all the other neighborhood cats in check, and they would leave him "gifts" on our doorstep. As he got older, however, he got cranky and started to bite. He had kennel cough (we got him from a shelter) and we thought he wouldn't live very long, but he lived for many years, I think because we let him go outside when he wanted and the fresh air seemed to do him good.
