Cleo the Stray

The cat that found me when I was 16 was my favorite cat. Some kids in the neighborhood found her and brought her over. She was probably only six weeks old. There was no way I would let that pack of 10 year olds leave with her so I kept her and named her Cleo.

The first night she was with us she found her way to my room and curled up next to me on my pillow. We became fast friends and she followed me around all summer. As she grew older she became more independent and liked to roam around outdoors. It seemed that she was an alpha cat when I got another cat a few years later.

Cleo had a tendency to gain weight and craved tomato as well as donair sauce. She was stout and strong and even with a little extra weight was able to jump onto the counter whenever there was pizza sauce nearby. My guess is that she needed to get more exercise. We moved and she had to be an indoor cat when she was not quite a year old. If you have one of these cats make sure they get plenty of exercise. They make great outdoor cats because they are quite strong even if not that big. Cleo could definitely take care of herself.

Overall she was a friendly cat that would accept other pets, even a rabbit.
