American Shorthairs are definitely my favorite. The cat in question here (Scooby) just kind of showed up one day. Our dogs ran him up a tree, he was pretty thin and in fairly bad shape. Once we gave him some food and water, it didn't take him long to get acclimated at all. He loves to snuggle up, and never stays with one person too long. It's kind of odd when you think about it, but he likes to rotate between the three of us and sit with everyone for awhile. He'll even snuggle up with one of our dogs and lay right up against him. (The other is too timid to allow it, he usually walks away.)

He doesn't mind spending time outside when no one is home, even when it's cold. We've seen him run around and play with the dogs, jumping on hay bales and vehicles.

I say all of this because Scooby really is an active cat, he's very nice, treats everyone the same, and never makes any noise unless there's no food or if he needs to go outside. He's very smart. Our other American Shorthair is older and has 3 legs, so she is not as active, but she's just as smart and loving.
