American Shorthair Review- Patches

My family found and took in Patches when she was a kitten, wandering the streets around Christmastime. Unfortunately, Patches was soon diagnosed with a bad heart murmur. However, she is now 10 years old and still going strong! Other than the heart murmur, she has no other health problems.
Patches is very smart, and can usually pick up on the moods of the humans around her. She knows when someone doesn't want to pet her, and she knows when she's allowed to come up to visitors. It takes her awhile to warm up to strangers, but when she knows someone, she is very friendly, gentle, and comfortable.
Patches enjoys playing with toys and hair bands, but also likes to snuggle up and fall asleep on any lap she can find. She needs to be brushed occasionally and sheds a little, but usually just grooms herself.
Many of the cats at the animal shelter I volunteer at are American Shorthairs or similar mixes. They all have varying personalities, but almost all of them are energetic, intelligent, enjoy attention, and are very lovable.
