Gracie The Kitten

My kids have a knack for finding strays. They brought home a cat a few months ago; she was dirty and hungry and definitely needed some love. We got her fed, and when we took her to the vet a few days later, we were surprised to learn that she was pregnant.

On the day Gracie was born, she stole my heart. The runt of the litter, she was tiny from day one. Her mom had been pretty malnourished so we weren't sure how any of the kittens would do, but Gracie has thrived.

These days, Gracie is my constant companion. She sleeps on my chest while I'm sitting anywhere-in front of the computer, reading a book or snuggling with the kids. She's curious, inquisitive, and very playful. She has a purr that can be heard from across the room, and is one of the most loving cats I have ever had the pleasure of being owned by.

She's still fairly tiny, and our vet says she may never get much bigger than she is. Even though she's been well taken care of, because her mother was malnourished, she may remain a small cat. Because of her smaller size she is a little scared of one of our dogs, who is still mostly a pup, so pretty clumsy and abrupt. However, she loves to cuddle with the other dog, who is older and much more mellow!
