I am not much of a cat person but I enjoyed caring for a stray cat that followed my housemate home one day. We left milk outside the door for a couple of nights and then lured the cat into our house and all the way up to the second floor bathroom where Carmen our dirty little street cat experienced her first shower.

Carmen cleaned up quite nicely and so we took her to the vet school, had her checked out and fixed up and made her part of the household. She was a bit shy around strangers but became quite friendly with anyone living in the house. (It was a large house with anywhere from six to ten students in residence.) We took turns being her care-giver. Having a cat in the house made us all feel a bit more like a family. It would not have been the same without her.
